Overview

Animal Comparison is an educational game designed for children. We take privacy seriously — especially for our youngest players. This policy explains what data we collect (very little) and how we use it.

What Data We Store

All game data is stored locally on your device using your browser's localStorage. This includes:

• Player profiles (name, avatar choice)
• Game progress (scores, streaks, achievements)
• Discovered and favorite animals
• Preferences (sound, units)

This data never leaves your device. We do not upload, sync, or transmit it to any server.

Cookies

We do not use cookies. No cookie consent banner is needed because there are no cookies to consent to.

Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-first analytics tool that does not use cookies, does not collect personal information, and does not track users across sites. It provides us with anonymous, aggregate data like page views and browser types so we can understand how many people are playing.

We may also collect anonymous game events (e.g., which game modes are popular) through our own servers. These events contain no personal information — no names, no user IDs, no device IDs, no IP addresses.

Third-Party Services

• Google Fonts — we load fonts (Fredoka, Nunito) from Google's CDN. Google's font API does not set cookies or collect personal information. Learn more.
• Cloudflare — our hosting and CDN provider. Cloudflare may process connection data (IP addresses) as part of serving the site, in accordance with their privacy policy.

We do not use Google Analytics, advertising SDKs, social media trackers, or any other third-party tracking tools.

Children's Privacy (COPPA)

Animal Comparison is designed for children ages 2–13. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA):

• We do not collect personal information from children
• We do not require account creation to play
• We do not use behavioral advertising or targeted ads
• Player names are stored only on the device and are never transmitted

Data Deletion

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you can delete it at any time by:

• Using the "Reset Progress" button in the game's Settings
• Clearing your browser's site data for this website

Changes to This Policy

If we make changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top. Significant changes will be noted on the game's home screen.
